Cruise line hires waterslide influencer to design new island waterpark
Royal Caribbean is so serious about designing the perfect private island experience that they've partnered with a famous waterslide influencer.
The cruise firm unveiled its plans for its new Perfect Day Mexico, set to open in 2027.
Alex Ojeda, a travel vlogger specialising in "thrilling destinations" was hired by the company to make the island's waterpark as spectacular as possible.

"I was hired to help design this waterpark," Alex revealed to his more than eight million followers in a video.
He says he was involved in "shaping slides, guest experience, and how the thrill flows from tower to tower."
Across his social channels, Alex shares videos of himself experiencing rollercoasters and waterslides around the world, from Brazil to the USA.
After working with him in the past, Royal Caribbean brought him on board last year to come aboard and consult on their design for Perfect Day Mexico.

Perfect Day Mexico will be home to the tallest water slide tower in the Americas, the world's first sombrero waterslide, and a hydro launch slide that shoots riders 12 metres into the air.
There will be also a wave pool, an adventure pool for kids, and the world's longest lazy river which takes nearly a whole hour to drift down.
Along the river, there will be bars you can stop at where you tether your floating tube and take a break for a cocktail.
Outside of the waterpark, the island will have six pools, three beaches, 12 restaurants and 24 bars - including six that you can swim up to.

"Our guests are looking for memories. They're trying to find first experiences. It's why people go on vacation, frankly," said Royal Caribbean's Senior Vice President and Chief Product Innovation Officer Jay Schneider at an event unveiling the new island in New York City.
For this reason, there will be more raft waterslides than body slides at Perfect Day Mexico, after research found that more people prefer sliding down together in groups rather than alone.

If you're feeling FOMO at the sound of this island experience, you're in luck. Royal Caribbean also announced that Australian cruisers are finally getting a private island destination.
Lelepa in Vanuatu in the South Pacific is set to open in 2027, and will be the first private island cruise destination in the Southern Hemisphere.
Cruise bosses promise a "locally inspired experience" including "serene beaches, nature trails, water activities and delicious dining."
Gavin Smith, vice president and managing director of Royal Caribbean Australia and New Zealand, said the firm is "thrilled" to launch the Aussie first.
"With crystal clear waters and the most stunning natural beauty it'll be the perfect spot for our guests on their South Pacific holidays come 2027," he said.
