All the new cruise ships that will be in Australia this cruising season
The number of Aussies going on cruises continues to grow.
And while P&O Australia is setting sail for its final season and Virgin Voyages has cancelled sailings in the region there are plenty of other options for holidays at sea.
Australia's main cruise season kicks off this month in October and generally runs until April.
While many old favourites such as Celebrity Edge, Carnival Splendour and Spirit, Disney Wonder as well as four ships from Princess Cruises will return, there are some new arrivals sailing into Australia.
Take a look.
Viking Venus
Viking Venus, built in 2021, will be sailing in Australian waters for the first time during the 2024/25 season.
Voyages will include the inaugural 32-day Grand Australia Circumnavigation voyage departing from Sydney on 25 January 2025.
Seabourn Pursuit
Ultra luxury cruise line Seabourn has brought sleek explorer ship, Pursuit, to Australia for the first time.
She sailed into Darwin at the beginning of June and is based in the remote Kimberley region in the Northern Territory until August.
The all-suite ship is sailing six 10-day voyages between Darwin and Broome.
The all-inclusive vessel will take passengers to remote destinations bigger ships can't access such as Ngula Jar Island and King George Falls.
With just 132 suites the ship is small enough to get close to the unique landscapes - plus also has Zodiac boats for closer exploration.
Seabourn also announced the Wunambal Gaambera Traditional Owners as 'godparents' of the ship in an historic first, rather than a celebrity.
Seabourn is famous for its lavish dining- including serving caviar in a chunk of ice at a beach-side barbecue.
Norwegian Sun, Spirit and Sky
Norwegian Cruise Line is sending three new ships to Asia-Pacific including Australia over the next two years.
Norwegian Spirit, Sun and Sky, with their colourful hulls, will sail 85 voyages from September this year until March 2026.
And for the first time Aussies will be able to board some of the cruises in Cairns, as well as Sydney and Melbourne.
Other port's passengers can join include Auckland, New Zealand and Bali, Indonesia.
The ships will also call for the first time in Albany, Busselton, Fremantle, Port Douglas, Townsville, Aitutaki in the Cook Islands and Suva, Fiji.
Norwegian Sun will sail 12-to-15-day voyages between Australia and New Zealand, including to the Great Barrier Reef and South Pacific between Cairns and Lautoka, Fiji.
She will also sail six island-hopping French Polynesia cruises between Fiji and Tahiti and two Asia cruises.
Then, from November 2025 to March 2026, Norwegian Sun will sail 11-to-15-day itineraries exploring Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea and other destinations in Southeast Asia.
Scenic Eclipse II
Super-lux yacht-style ship Scenic Eclipse II, is now in Australia.
The lavish six star vessel is the first from Scenic - an Australian company - to actually sail here.
Cruisers looking for a lavish upscale experience can get on board, with just 228 guests and butler service for every guest.
Scenic Eclipse II is the only ship with two on board helicopters and a submersible, as well as Zodiac boats.
It also has ten restaurants and eight bars and lounges as well as a spa and yoga and Pilates studio.
The vessel travels through some of the world's most remote and locations, including the Arctic, remote East Antarctica and the Spice Islands - in style.
It even has e-bikes for port exploration.
Guests can book to explore Fiji, Antarctica, Japan, Indonesia and New Zealand as well as Australia on cruises over the next two years.
Crown Princess
Princess Cruises has a few ships coming to Sydney for the 2024/25 summer season including Coral, Diamond and Royal Princess.
But the Crown Princess is preparing to commence her inaugural season down under.
Crown Princess will be the biggest Princess ship to be home ported year-round.
She will also complete her first World Cruise from Australia – taking the most number of Aussie guests on a world cruise from Australia ever.
The Crown Princess we will operate the first ever Sydney Swans Member Cruise to Tasmania in January.
