Celebrity Cruises Magic Carpet feature that's designed to get you the best views possible
Cruising season is in full swing in Australia and the competition has never been hotter.
So how do you stand out in an increasingly crowded market? Well, the answer is to stand out – literally!
Introducing the Magic Carpet. No longer just the domain of movies and musicals, Aussie cruisers are getting their first taste this week of the famed open-ocean platform on the Celebrity Edge, which is calling Australia home this summer.

So what is it? It's basically a moving restaurant and bar that puts you out over the ocean for incredible views... not to mention the cocktails!
We sampled this new way to cruise this week on the Edge's maiden voyage from Australia to New Zealand.
You can see its unique bright orange outline a mile away. And it's quite the engineering feat too. The platform, which can take up to 100 guests, can reach heights of up to 13 storeys above sea level.
As Celebrity Cruises President Laura Hodges Bethge told us onboard this week, it's the perfect example of the company's "outward facing vision" to bring cruisers closer to those ocean views.

It's also multi-functional, offering a different experience depending on its location on the ship. On deck 15, it's a chill-out lounge and bar area to take in those amazing views.
Go down just one floor to level 14 and it's an extension of the pool deck. On level 5, it's a one-of-a-kind dining experience, while on deck 2 it's a practical, yet very fancy, sea-level tender platform.

During our cruise of New Zealand, it was the place to be, especially as a viewing platform for the majestic Milford, Dusky and Doubtful sounds.
My tip is to head up to the Magic Carpet when your ship is in dock. You'll get the best views around, and can keep them almost all to yourself!
