This robot will make you a burger for just $6

Although flying cars aren’t exactly everywhere we look, we are living in a world where robot-making-burger-chefs are a thing. After nine years of development, an exciting new burger restaurant has opened in San Francisco’s SoMa district called 'Creator' — and predictably, social media users are going crazy for it.

Don't expect something that looks like it's from The Jetsons, this robot kitchen is more of a culinary instrument. The design team worked with chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants such as Momofuku and Chez Panisse to ensure a great taste. While the design enlisted the help of roboticists from Disney Imagineering, NASA and Telsa to create the 14ft-long robot kitchen.

As seen in the video above, the machines can do everything a human can; sear meat, slice tomatos, sprinkle onions, cut rolls in half and spread sauce.

The founders wanted to reduce the menial kitchen tasks, however they've still maintained a human element with staff employed to check burgers and serve patrons.

A burger will cost you $6 and there are four options to choose from, including the Creator Vs The World (pacific sauce with umeboshi plum and mole, Pacific seasoning with garlic, mustard, bell pepper, fennel seed, pickles, onion, tomato, burger lettuce and cheddar cheese), and the Dad Burger (sunflower seed tahini, Heinz ketchup, garlic salt, pepper, pickles and onion.)

Despite the system being able to create around 130 burgers in an hour, getting a reservation isn't easy. Those keen to try a robot burger must apply online for tickets before they rock up.

It's cool, but then again, nothing quite beats a good old fashioned human-made burger. Just saying.
