Nairobi’s churches, mosques, and temples get a yellow paint job in the name of peace

Places of worship in Kenya have been painted a vibrant yellow as part of an art project which aims to promote peace and love among religions.

Mosques, temples and churches in Nairobi have signed up to participate in the 'Colour in Faith' project, run by Columbian-American artist Yazmany Arboleda.

"The goal was to take houses of worship in Kenya and paint them yellow in the name of love. The idea from the beginning was to turn buildings into sculptures that speak to our shared humanity,” Arbolda told the Guardian.

The Jeddah Mosque Kambi was the first building to get the makeover, followed by the ACK Holy Trinity Parish and then the Hindu Baps Shri Swaminarayan temple.

There were originally 14 religious buildings signed up to take part in the project, but the project is taking longer than expected due to religious bureaucracy, with a number of officials having to be consulted for each building.
