Organising expert's three game-changing storage tips for your next camping trip

'Tis the season to go camping, and who wouldn't want to spend summer exploring the boundless plains of the Australian wilderness when the weather is this good?

While camping has many advantages — namely the fact that it's usually budget-friendly, and allows you to get up close and personal with all that nature has to offer — one tricky trait is the fact that you have to take everything including the kitchen sink with you, which can make storage and organisation a hassle at times.

Thankfully, decluttering and organising expert Anita Birges has some storage solutions to reduce clutter when camping. Watch in the video above.

Birges' first tip is to bring a big storage box.

"You want to get something that is sturdy, but can also lock up," Birges says as she opens a rectangular Wanderer box, which has a lockable lid — an important feature for peace of mind when leaving the campsite, being able to know that everything is safe and secure.

Birges' second must-do hack is to take a small PVC compact bin with you on your trip, as it can transport all sorts of miscellaneous items — including balls or cricket bats — "really, really easily," and also can be used for the dual purpose of a rubbish bin or even as a laundry hamper.

Continuing with the trend of easily-transportable storage that can also change shape and size, Birges says that anything that can pop up is a "winner in [her] book."

Birges says a small pop-up bucket can be used for hand washing or washing up, and it can also be used to transport cutlery or dishware, and when it's not in use, it's easy to pack away.

"It's all about thinking outside of the box," Birges says.

"Think about things that will make your life easier, simpler, and then you'll enjoy your holiday so much more."
