Camping Hacks: Pro organiser shows how to banish campervan clutter

With over eight years experience in decluttering and organising homes all over Australia, organisation whiz and Today Show and Today Extra regular Anita Birges (@mise_en_place_aus) shares her favourite tips and tricks to help families get organised and make travelling a breeze.

With more people taking up caravanning and hitting the road these days, the setup and the organising can be overwhelming.

You may not nail it on first try — don't forget that more you travel, the better you will get. But remember; an organised holiday is a relaxing holiday!

So, I've devised some quick and handy tips to take the stress out of your next trip. Watch the clip above as I take you through each stress-busting organising gem.

Here, I've written it out as a checklist featuring four simple steps aimed to take the chaos and clutter out of your next camper van adventure.

1. Evaluate your space

Look at all the corners and hidden spaces in the van the cupboards, the shelves to have a good understanding of what spaces you can use.

2. Measure it up!

Look at getting some containers and boxes that fit your space. This helps with organising your items and maximising the use of the space. It also stops them from moving around while travelling.

3. Go compact

A great option is a two-in-one-use item such as a pot and pan with a removable handle. There are some clever items such as a pop-up kettle, a collapsible laundry basket, or a collapsible dish rack (check out a full product list below to get you well and truly started).

4. Make use of that dead wall space

With a caravan it's difficult to screw in so use adhesive hooks. This can be great in the bathroom for towels and toiletries or in the main space with hooks for jackets, loose items such as umbrellas or keys.
