9. Argentina
Offering breathtaking scenery and campsites that are among South America's finest, camping is a big part of the Argentine national identity. The country scored 72.34 out of 100.
8. Ethiopia
With a score of 73.20 out of 100, Ethiopia lands in eight place. The area most used for camping in Ethiopia is south Omo. The Simien Mountains has three major campsites, and most camping trips in the Simiens will include all three camps.
7. Canada
In British Columbia alone there are hundreds of these free camping areas spread across the mainland and Vancouver Island. Wild camping is legal in Canada, provided you adhere to each province's rules. Canada scored 73.87 out of 100.
6. South Africa
There are over 700 caravan and camping resorts in South Africa, some only offer basic back to nature facilities, while other resorts provide 5-star quality.
The country came in sixth place with a score of 74.47 out of 100.
4. Kenya
Kenya, the "Pride of Africa," ranks as the fourth-best camping destination globally, scoring 78.86 out of 100. Known for its friendly people and stunning landscapes, Kenya offers unique outdoor activities, from hot air balloon rides and mountain hikes to river rafting and breakfast with giraffes.
With numerous national parks, it's ideal for wildlife encounters, particularly in the Masai Mara, where campers can see big cats, elephants, and more.
3. Tanzania
Tanzania ranks third in our camping study with a score of 78.92 out of 100, offering stunning natural landscapes, unique wildlife, and luxury safari camps.
With only 37.4 per cent of the population in urban areas, Tanzania provides an authentic rural experience and minimal light pollution, ideal for stargazing.
Campers can witness the Great Migration in Serengeti National Park or explore Ruaha National Park's unique boating safaris.
2. USA
The United States ranks as the second-best country for camping, scoring 78.99 out of 100. The US offers an extensive network of public lands, including national parks, forests, BLM lands, and state parks, with numerous campsites, trails, and scenic areas.
These lands are well-equipped with facilities like campgrounds and picnic areas, making exploration accessible and enjoyable for campers across the country.

Scoring 82.25 out of 100 in the study, Australia ranks as the world's top camping destination, boasting 685 national parks across 28 million hectares, including Kakadu in the Northern Territory and the Blue Mountains in New South Wales.
With abundant unique wildlife, plant species, and 1,327 outdoor activities, Australia's vast landscapes and low population density make it ideal for those seeking space and adventure in nature.
