Best hotels in the world: Tripadvisor names the best accommodation based on ratings
A boutique hotel in a small village has been named the best place in the world to stay, according to Tripadvisor.
The site has released its annual Travellers' Choice Best of the Best Hotels Awards, based on reviews left by guests.

10. Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, Mexico
Just sneaking into the top ten is Mexico City's Sofitel hotel, which has stunning views of the city from the upper floors.
Locals love the rooftop cocktail bar for sunset drinks.
The pool and gym also have floor-to-ceiling windows to make the most of the views.
9. Padma Resort Ubud, Indonesia
Just outside the mountainous city of Ubud, the Padma Resort is an idyllic getaway surrounded by lush forest.
The resort has three outdoor swimming pools, a health club, and a sauna.
8. Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, Mexico
Just south of Cancun, this all-inclusive resort comes in at number eight on the list.
Located on the white sands of Akumal Beach, it's an adults-only resort that is the height of luxury.
A perfect place for a romantic getaway, the resort is known for the beautiful beach, calm Caribbean waters, and green sea turtle population.
7. La Siesta Classic Ma May, Vietnam
This hotel is a luxury retreat from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
The property has 65 bespoke-designed guestrooms and suites, the Moonlight Sky Bar on the rooftop, plus a spa, gym, and restaurant.
