Best beaches in Australia for swimming, surfing, and more, according to Time Out
Australia is home to tens of thousands of incredible beaches. And while the east coast is often considered home to some of the best spots, according to Time Out there is another Aussie state boasting some of the best beaches in the country.
Editors have shared their favourite beaches for swimming, surfing, snorkelling and more.
Beaches were selected based on "its remarkable beauty, safe swimming conditioning (read: you won't see anywhere with saltwater crocs on this list), and proximity to other incredible activities, so your adventure out doesn't end with just one dip."

9. Freshwater Beach, New South Wales
Sydney might be home to some of the world's most famous beaches - from Bondi to Cronulla and Coogee. But it's Freshwater beach that is considered one of the best, according to Time Out.
8. Almonta Beach, South Australia
Almonta Beach can be found on Golden Island in Coffin Bay National Park on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
You do have to pay $11 to enter from National Parks and Wildlife Services but it is definitely worth it, and means it's generally less crowded.
7. Cable Beach, Western Australia
The first of three Western Australian beaches in the top 10 is Cable Beach in Broome. Aside from 22 kilometres of sand the spot also offers a hike to Gantheaume Point for killer views of the area. Otherwise maybe a camel ride would tickle your fancy. Either way, it's a definite spot to watch the sunset.
6. Wineglass Bay, Tasmania
Not only is Wineglass Bay a stunning beach, but it is also ideal for hiking and bushwalking.
Found in Freycinet National Park about two hours from Hobart, Wineglass Bay was also recently crowned the 'best beach in Australia' by 9Travel readers in our Aussie Travel Trends Index.
2. Stokes Bay, South Australia
Found on South Australia's stunning Kangaroo Island, Stokes Bay offers a perfect patch for "wading, swimming, snorkelling, strolling", according to Time Out editors.
