The best airlines in the world for 2024 revealed
Travel season is upon us with Aussies preparing to flock to Europe for summer.
But when it comes to getting from A to B there are some airlines that rank higher in experience.
Airlineratings.com has released their annual report for 2024 ranking the top airlines around the world this year as part of their Airline Excellence Awards.
To determine which airline takes the crown for the number one in the world, the product rating site looks at different factors including fleet age, safety rating, passenger reviews, profitability, product rating, innovation and forward fleet orders.
Taking all these into consideration, the site has officially ranked the top 25 airlines.
Read on to find out who took the top spot this year.
23. Delta Air Lines
Coming out on top this year amongst the US airlines was Delta Air Lines.
Earlier this year Delta was crowned with the most punctual airline in North America according to Cirium data.
22. Air Canada
Coming in next was the first non-American airline on the list.
Canada's largest airline Air Canada ranked as the 22nd airline in the world for 2024.
21. IGA Group (British Airways & Iberia)
Next on the list was the IGA Group, made up of British Airways and Iberia.
20. Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines took home the 20th spot on the Airlineratings.com ranking.
19. Lufthansa
Another Europe entry making the list was none other than German carrier Lufthansa.
The airline also has a stellar safety ranking according to the Airlineratings.com site.
18. Alaska Airlines
American airline Alaska Airlines placed as the 18th best airline in the world for 2024.
Along with being the fifth largest airline in North America the airline has its own award-winning loyalty program called the Mileage Plan.
17. Hawaiian Airlines
Another US airline to make the list – and the go to carrier for a trip to Hawaii – was Hawaiian Airlines.
The airline ranked as the 17th best in the world, beating Delta amongst others.
15. Finnair
The next airline on the list was another Europe entry.
Finland's Finnair, which flies to around 150 destinations, ranked 15th in the world.
14. TAP Portugal
TAP Portugal ranked as the 14th best airline in the world for 2024, placing slightly lower than its 13th last year.
