Sydney comes alive with blooming springtime Jacaranda

It's not spring in Sydney until the Jacaranda explode into their glorious annual lavender bloom.

Jacaranda season has arrived, and for the month of November, expect your Instagram feed to be brimming with violet hues. No other blossoming transforms Sydney quite like the Jacaranda.

Snap-happy tourists and locals alike flock to photograph this iconic tree, with one of the most photographed locations being McDougall St in Kirribilli.

But there are beautiful Jacaranda mimosifolia all across the harbour city.

Top spots include Lavender Bay, Greenwich, Waverton, Hunters Hill, Woolwich, Longueville and Wollstonecraft on the North Shore.

In the east, Paddington, Woollahra and Double Bay are favourites, but you'll spot the beauties all the way to Watsons Bay.

A jacaranda walking tour is a great way to see the canopies throughout the city. Starting at the Royal Botanic Gardens, it heads through Circular Quay and historic The Rocks, so you'll see Sydney's famous views like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, too. 

Over Inner-West way, Glebe, Erskineville and Balmain are all areas worth exploring.
