The Territory is home to many significant Aboriginal sites, such as Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Kakadu National Park, where you can witness ancient rock art galleries and learn about traditional ways of life.
And one of the best ways to do this is by listening to local stories from guide - a guide like Tasha Nadji, a traditional owner from the Bunitj clan.
"My grandfather and some of our ancestors have got some amazing paintings in this area," she shares.
"There's stories of our ancestors sitting on our flood plains as European boats, Dutch boats were travelling out, that's a long time ago."

Tasha says most of the artwork can still be used today as a guide to the land.
"Everything you see up in the rock art in Kakadu is still available in the country surrounding you," she says.
David points out that visiting the Northern Territory is like nothing else in Australia because of the ancient concept of 'country' - the deep connection between Indigenous people, land, and the natural environment.
"Visiting these places gives travellers a deeper understanding of the sacredness of the land, and its importance to Aboriginal people," he adds.
