If there's one thing Queensland knows how to do, it's have a good beach.
The majority of nine.com.au Travel readers plan to take a domestic holiday in 2026, with the overwhelming majority setting their sights on Queensland.
In case you need a little inspiration, let's take a look at some of Queensland's most beautiful beaches.
Nudey Beach, Fitzroy Island
Don't be fooled by the name, this isn't a nudist beach!
On Fitzroy Island just off the coast of Cairns, Nudey Beach was named the best beach in the country in 2018, and it's easy to see why.
You can get there via a 45-minute ferry, then a 15-minute walk through the tropical rainforest.
Palm Cove, Cairns
You can probably guess how Palm Cove got its name. Twenty minutes north of Cairns, it's a low-key, serene beach with an adjoining village with the same relaxed energy.
Lake McKenzie, K'gari (Frazer Island)
This is one of the few beaches on this list that is fresh water, not salty.
The clear lake on the island of K'gari is pure and refreshing, with calm water, soft sand, and if you're lucky, not another soul in sight.
Tallebudgera Creek
The Gold Coast is famous for its surf beaches, but the peaceful and serene Tallebudgera Creek is a calm oasis, perfect for picnics, families, and people who just want to float peacefully.
Lizard Island
How does your own private beach sound? Well, on Lizard Island, that's a reality.

Agnes Water
Agnes Water beach belongs to a town of the same name, and is the perfect place for a week of seaside relaxation.

This one isn't as easy to visit, but it's one of those bucket list experiences that is so worth the journey.

Punsand Bay, Cape York
Punsand Bay is a very unique Queensland beach, because you can watch the sun both rise and set right on the beach.
Located at the northernmost tip of Australia, it's a trek to get there, but it's heaven on earth.
Tangalooma, Moreton Island
It's not just the white sand and turquoise water that make this beach incredible.
Just off the coast is a handful of sunken ships that are home to a ton of coral and marine life - a snorkeller's dream.
