Best places to eat and drink on the Gold Coast

My family loves the Gold Coast.

We head there together (or ditch the kids!) a couple of times a year.

Everytime we go, we discover new and exciting places to eat and drink, as well as returning to our much-loved favourites.

Here is my pick of where to go, no matter what your budget or palate.

The Loose Moose, Broadbeach

This is our all-time favourite.

Located at the top of Broadbeach Mall, this craft beer and grill house combines Gold Coast energy with the best in Canadian food.

Think hot wings, burgers, tacos, bar snacks and much more.

The drinks menu is also impressive with 25 different craft beers and an extensive cocktail list. 

I recommend the White Sangria shared cocktail.

Grab a table on the sprawling balcony, but book ahead if you can.

Kookoo Teppanyaki, Surfers Paradise

For this GC hot spot, you've got to book in advance.

I'd say it's the best dinner and show on the GC. 

We chose the teppanyaki set menu and dined on chicken, wagyu and kangaroo.

Our host was a master chef and comedian all in one.

His jokes and skills impressed even the most jaded teenager.

I wish I could say we all caught the eggs that were thrown at us, but the video will tell a different story.

BOB's Beers restaurant and Microbrewery, Surfers Paradise

I'm always seeking out places with an interesting drinks menu for me and my husband.

He's more of a beer drinker than a cocktail person (I am the cocktail person!).

Enter BOBs (Best Of Beers).

It's the first and only brewery in Surfers Paradise and features both local BOB beers and guest brews from Australia and New Zealand.

For the non beer drinkers, you haven't been forgotten.

Try the Scarlet Letter from their cocktail list. 

When it comes to food, my adult kid loved the burgers, while I was a big fan of their Korean Chicken Bao.

Hideaway Kitchen and Bar, Broadbeach

Just like its name, this hidden treasure is popular with tourists and locals. 

Try and book or grab an outside table, where you can pretend you're eating in the backstreets of Asia.

We sampled the Pork Gyoza Cabbage and Chive Dumplings, Zia Long Bao and Satay Chicken Sticks.

Be sure to save some room for their delicious cocktails too.

Steampunk, Surfers Paradise

This is another staple in our Gold Coast repertoire.

You can generally walk in and get a table on the balcony where you have a bird's eye view of Surfers Paradise Boulevarde and the Slingshot ride (we call it the Vomitron) which provides hours of entertainment as you watch adventurous souls go hurtling into the air.

Go for the generous pizzas, wings and loaded fries, but stay for their cocktails.

We were there for happy hour and a couple of frozen Long Island Margaritas.

Any surf club

No visit to the Gold Coast is complete without a visit to the local surf club.  We like to sample a different one every time we're there. 

Our favourite spots to grab a schnitty and chips are BMD Northcliffe and Broadbeach.

As with everything in this tourist hot spot, book if you're looking for a seat at dinner.

With decent prices and those uninterrupted beach views, it's hard to beat.
