Amazing footage shows off the best of Arizona's 'alien' landscape

American-based photographer Toby Harriman has captured spectacular footage of the different geographical aspects of the desert in Arizona.

The video was shot using a drone, and shows the unique rock formations in the desert. The deserts in Arizona have these unique developments due to a mixture of hot and cold weather and erosion.

Recently, a 3.2km long crack opened in the desert, which is currently being monitored by the Arizona Geological Survey. The crack was originally noticed in 2014 and has continued to grow, aided by heavy rain.

Arizona is part of a region of America with amazing geographical offerings, the most famous of which is the Grand Canyon. Straddling the border of Arizona and Utah is the stunning Monument Valley, where beautiful red stacks of rock raise to the sky.

Another popular tourist spot in the region is the Hoover Dam. This huge structure connects Nevada and Arizona – making it a popular destination for American road trips.
