As we all know, flying is a privilege and not a right. But that privilege is multiplied 10-fold if you end up flying anywhere other than economy.
But for one passenger who paid for the right to sit in premium economy they ended up being called an asshole for not swapping their prized seat for one at the back, and the internet is showing them plenty of support.
In the wildly popular community thread, Am I The Asshole (AITA), the question was asked, "AITA for offering to sell my seat to honeymooners?"

The Redditor explained they were flying from Melbourne to Dubai in premium economy when he was joined by a fellow passenger who had been upgraded from cattle class.
"They asked if I could switch seat with their wife as they had just gotten married and were on their honeymoon."
When asked where the bride was, "he pointed towards the back of the plane. In economy".

The offer was swiftly refused although they came up with a counter offer. They would switch if the difference in seat prices was paid: "It is a godly amount. I had been lucky to get mine at a decent price. It would only have cost him $1000."
That counter offer was turned down as the honeymooning couple were on a budget, to which the Redditor "congratulated" the new groom once again and "put in my earbuds".
"He muttered that I was an asshole. I said he was a prick for taking the upgrade instead of either sitting with his wife or giving it to her."
So they asked the question if they were in the wrong or not, as the Redditor's wife "thinks I should have done the nice thing".

The comments were strongly in favour of not swapping seats.
"People who do this kind of thing are so crappy. Him trying to guilt trip you by telling you he was on his honeymoon was supposed to mean what exactly?" was one.
"Their lack of planning is not your fault. The sheer entitlement of some people is laughable," was another.
Others suspected a scam.
"There's absolutely no way that a ticket agent who knew they were on their honeymoon offered only one upgrade. I smell a scam," wrote one commentator.
"I call BS. I seriously doubt the guy was a newlywed," was another.

Swapping of seats on planes can be a contentious experience and can even lead to violence.
Earlier this month, nine passengers were removed from a Ryanair jet flying from the Moroccan city of Agadir to London Stansted after a row over the swapping of seats escalated into a mid-air brawl.
In October 2022, a US woman shared a series of videos passionately defending her decision to refuse a request to switch plane seats on a flight so a family could be seated together.
The traveller said she politely denied the request because she had paid full fare for the seat. After sharing the video, she copped backlash from people who claimed she was being unfair. The traveller claimed it wasn't her responsibility to accommodate other travellers.
