The world's best badminton players will converge in Sydney next month to battle for a final world ranking before the Olympics in August.

Star male players at the 2016 Xiamenair Australian Badminton Open will include two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion Lin Dan, the current world No.1 Chen Long and No.2 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.

Top women include world No.1 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand and second-ranked Carolina Marin of Spain.

The tournament offers just over $1 million in prizemoney and is the last opportunity to secure world rankings before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later this year.

Also in the line-up is eighth-ranked Indian star Saina Nehwal, who has millions of followers on social media.

The competition runs from June 7 to 12 at Sydney Olympic Park.
