Watermelon, bottle destroyed by lightning lacrosse shots

An American professional lacrosse player has shown off the incredible speed of his shots by destroying a watermelon and a milk bottle.

Paul Rabil, who plays for the New York Lizards in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and once held the world record for the fastest shot, was the star of the trick shot video.

One effort in particular highlighted the incredible power Rabilt, the winner of fastest shot competition in 2009 and 2010 and whose fastest effort has been measured at 179 km/h, is able to generate with his stick.

Slow motion cameras show how both a watermelon and milk bottle disintegrate when struck by one of the MLL star's shots.

The world record for a lacrosse shot is held Zac Dorn, a "fan" of the sport whose fastest shot was measured at 187km/h while during a game the ball travels at speeds between 129km/h and 161km/h.

Australian Sam Groth holds the record for the fastest tennis serve at 263 km/h while cricket’s fastest ever delivery of 161.3km/h was bowled by Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar.
