Did Dutch darts player Raymond van Barneveld trade his soul for darts win?

That’s been the suggestion online because of an optical illusion involving a smoke machine following his world championship win over Michael Smith.

Footage from the Alexandra Palace shows the Dutchman celebrating his come-from-behind victory in the quarter-final by raising his arms and arching his back to look skywards.

Just as he completes the triumphant pose, smoke is sent seemingly flying out of his chest by the machine positioned behind him.

The clip went viral after being posted online by English journalist Johnathan Liew with the caption, “Van Barneveld wins match, summons forces of eternal life”.

Unfortunately for the Dutchman, there was no supernatural occurrence in his next match as he went down to Adrian Lewis, who won through to the final where he will face Gary Anderson.
