Ugly groin shot mars UFC 222

John Dodson might’ve been too good for Pedro Munhoz at UFC 222 but there was a moment when Munhoz had Dodson looking vulnerable.

Dodson took his UFC record to 9-4 after taking victory via split decision with his speed proving to be troublesome for his opponent.

However, things could’ve gone either way late in the second round when Munhoz caught the bantamweight with a low kick which stopped the fight for a moment.

The referee had to call timeout, with Dodson on the ground trying to recover from the groin shot. Munhoz was told to go back to his corner as the American stayed stationary on his knees.

The blow was called unintentional and Dodson quickly jumped to his feet ready to fight on as Munhoz was warned to keep things above the belt.

Dodson was ruled the winner at the end of the fight following a split-decision loss in his last start, while it was Munhoz's first loss since 2015.
