Khabib Nurmagomedov's camp break silence after ugly fracas with Conor McGregor

Several members from Khabib Nurmagomedov's camp involved in the wild brawl after UFC 229 have broken their silence on social media, refusing to back down.

UFC fighter Zubaira Tukhugov as well as Khabib's cousin Abubakar Nurmagomedov have both taken to social media to brag about their hits on Conor McGregor in the aftermath of Khabib's win.

However, while many onlookers suggested that the attack on McGregor was not premeditated, Tukhugov's comments as translated by journalist Karim Zidan suggest otherwise.

“I slapped him as promised," Tukhugov said.

"I promised to make him answer for his words and I did."

McGregor and Tukhugov appear to have bad blood from months earlier, with the Irishman accusing Tukhugov of "treason" for taking on fellow Chechen Artem Lobov in an Instagram post from August.

"A true Chechen would never assist in a Dagestani led attack on another Chechen," McGregor wrote.

"A true Chechen would never take orders from a Dagestani man.

"This is treason. There is no worse than treason."

Abubakar Nurmagomedov showed off a cut under his eye from the ugly fracas on social media, but also bragged about getting some hits in on McGregor.

“In short, I climbed onto the cage,” he said.

“F---ing hell. That f---ing Irish b---- hit me. But I landed a few as well.”

Both Tukhugov and Nurmagomedov as well as the third attacker, revealed as Islam Makhachev, were praised by Khabib in an Instagram post following the fight.

Tukhugov was scheduled to face McGregor's teammate Lobov later this month, although UFC president Dana White cancelled the event in the aftermath of the brawl and banned Tukhugov from the sport.

"The guys who jumped in will never fight here again," White said in a post-fight press conference.

"I've been working hard to promote this sport, this is not what a mixed martial arts event is normally like."
