UFC star Conor McGregor responds to peculiar offer by Floyd Mayweather Jr
Conor McGregor has delivered a trademark expletive-ridden reply to an offer made to the Irishman by Floyd Mayweather Jr.
A few days after the one-year anniversary of the pair's highly publicised bout, Mayweather told TMZ Sports that he wanted McGregor to train at the boxer's gym in Las Vegas.
"I know that UFC has a training facility, but we’d like him to work at the Mayweather boxing club," Mayweather said.
The retired, undefeated champion suggested it would be good preparation for McGregor's upcoming UFC229 lightweight title fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov on October 6 in Las Vegas.
"From what I know, [Nurmagomedov is] a hell of a grappler, and he can wrestle," Mayweather said.
"But you know, the fans want to see you stand up and fight. That’s what they want to see. But Conor McGregor’s a tough competitor.
"Conor McGregor’s not going to back down from anyone. He’s not scared. He’s a warrior."
McGregor appeared to respond to Mayweather's suggestion on Twitter with a not-so-subtle rejection to the offer.
"F--- the Mayweathers, except Senior and Roger," he said.
"There is no peace here kid.
"Step up or step down."
