New glasses take sports fans into the future

Microsoft has given TV sports fans a glimpse into the future after unveiling a new set of headwear that allows viewers to watch matches complete with interactive holograms of players, stats and replays.

Called Hololens, Microsoft teamed with the NFL to show how the technology works with a video released at a Super Bowl panel discussion.

And the result will deliver fans an amazing new viewing experience, allowing them to extend the action beyond their TV and onto their coffee table.  

With HoloLens, running Windows 10, players can be brought to life through high-definition, 3D displays – allowing viewers to experience their athleticism and skills behind the stats.

Game-changing plays can pop up as a 3D hologram to view the field from all angles, while fantasy scores update in real time, without the need to look down at another screen.

While for many the sensory overload may be too much, hardcore fans and the tech heads are sure to lap it up.
