Donna Vekic is the young Croatian star caught up in the tennis scandal caused by Nick Kyrgios’ lewd sledging of Stan Wawrinka during a match in Montreal.
Kyrgios was caught saying, "Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend. Sorry to tell you that mate". The crude remark was an apparent reference to Vekic, who played mixed doubles with Kyrgios' fellow Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis in the 2014 Australian Open.
The 19-year-old Vekic, who has been called “an exceptional talent”, has been linked to Wawrinka after the Swiss’ split with his wife earlier this year.
Vekic has been on tour since 2012 and has won four titles.
She is currently ranked 127 in the world but has been as high as 62 in 2013.
She beat Dominika Cibulkova to win the Malaysia Open in 2014.
Vekic and Kokkinakis lost in the first round of the 2014 Australian Open.
Her best grand slam result came in 2015 when she reached the third round in Paris.
She celebrated her 19th birthday in June.
Disappointingly, she didn’t make the main draw at Wimbledon this year.
