Alex de Minaur's cagey response after girlfriend Katie Boulter cops awkward Wimbledon draw
Australian No.1 Alex de Minaur says he hopes the contest at Wimbledon between his partner, Britain's No.1 Katie Boulter and fellow Australian Daria Saville is a fierce one.
De Minaur has been dating Boulter for three years, with the pair often seen watching each other's matches from courtside seats.
But it won't be as straightforward as usual for the patriotic Aussie when Boulter walks on the court for her round one match on Tuesday night after the British world No.89 drew one of Australia's best hopes in the women's draw.

"It's going to be a tough match," de Minaur said when asked about it on Nine's Today.
"We will let the best woman win."

It's a different challenge that includes supporting from the sideline for the 24-year-old, who has been with Boulter since March of 2020.
Boulter is tipped to have the overwhelming support from her home crowd, with de Minaur excited to see both in action.
But, the Aussie world No.17 says his focus lies solely on his own redemption, after his heartbreaking exit from the 2022 campaign.
In that Wimbledon outing, de Minaur fell to Chile's Cristian Garin in the fourth round, in a heartbreaking five-set match.
"It was a brutal way to finish off last year," he said.

"Hopefully, I can redeem myself and do a little bit better this year."
Despite losing the Queen's Club Championships final to Carlos Alcaraz last week, the Aussie says his belief in his abilities is at an all-time high.
"I played some great tennis, positive tennis all week round," de Minaur said.
"It definitely gave me a lot of confidence going into this week."
It comes as tennis legend Todd Woodbridge picked de Minaur as the top Australian chance to run deep in this year's tournament.
All eyes will be on de Minaur as Australia's top seed, after fellow star Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the tournament on Monday morning, due to a wrist injury.
De Minaur faces Belgium's Kimmer Coppejans in the first round, on Tuesday.
