Aussie Wimbledon stocks take hit with Ajla Tomljanovic withdrawing amid battle with knee injury
Aussie stocks for Wimbledon have taken another hit, with Ajla Tomljanovic confirming she will not return to the court at the All-England club.
Having also been forced to withdraw from the Australian Open and then Roland-Garros, Tomljanovic – Australia's top-ranked woman – was hoping to make her return from knee surgery for the grass court season.
But the 30-year-old, who hasn't played since November, took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to confirm her knee still isn't ready.

"After experiencing many special emotions and memories at Wimbledon over the last few years, I had very high hopes of making my return there this year," she wrote.

"Unfortunately, my knee is still asking for just a bit more time before I can have full confidence in it in order to play at my best level."
Tomljanovic went deep at Wimbledon in 2022, making it to the quarter-final, where she was knocked out by eventual champion Elena Rybakina 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

"(I'm) really eager to get back out there, but this year Wimbledon came a bit sooner than I was ready for. I know it will be worth the wait and I am already looking forward to next year."
The Australian contingent is set to be led by Daria Saville, who herself is on the comeback trail from an ACL injury.
Wimbledon action starts on July 3.
