Tennis player finds fame with failed trick

An American tennis player is nursing a seriously bruised ego after he launched himself into international stardom by crashing into the court.

Jarmere Jenkins was competing against compatriot Tennys Sandgren in an International Tennis Federation Futures’ semi-final in the US when a now viral video caught the moment natural flair got the better of the world no.277.

In the footage, Jenkins and his opponent go toe-to-toe in a nine-shot rally before Sandgren claims the ascendancy, the 23-year-old Jenkins' running sliced volley goes long.

However, Jenkins refuses to let the limelight fall on Sandgren, spectacular leaping over the net despite having enough time and room to stop on his side of the court. Jenkins’ showboating comes back to haunt him though as he tries to repeat the trick to return to his serving side, only to catch his feet in the top of the net and slam into the hard court.The embarrassing gaffe did little to affect his performances though, Jenkins winning the match 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 before ultimately claiming the title.But despite the achievement, Jenkins may become known internationally for his over-zealous showmanship with the YouTube video recording nearly 170,000 views since it was first uploaded on September 21.
