Missed opportunities cruel Alex de Minaur in shock loss at Indian Wells
Alex de Minaur has been knocked out of Indian Wells in straight sets.
The ninth-seeded Australian came into his round of 16 match against Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo hitting the ball well, after a statement 6-4, 6-0 victory against Hubert Hurkacz.
But Cerunodo, who beat Novak Djokovic's conqueror Botic van de Zandschulp last round, surprised the Aussie to win 7-5, 6-3 - a revenge result after de Minaur had beaten the power hitter in the third round of the Australian Open this year.

It was a match of missed opportunities for de Minaur, converting only 3/14 break point opportunities while the Argentine landed 6 of 7.
De Minaur went into the match with a 15-4 record in 2025 that includes a quarterfinal performance at the Australian Open and runner-up finish in Rotterdam.
The 10th-ranked Aussie was dominant in his earlier victories at Indian Wells, where he easily defeated David Goffin and Hurkacz.
