Federer struggles with burn after tequila shot

If you’ve been wondering what Roger Federer gets up to while he’s injured, he drinks at the Oscars, as you do.

The Swiss maestro had knee surgery three weeks ago and took advantage of the time off to attend the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

While walking the red carpet looking every bit the debonair movie star, the 17-time grand slam champion was given a shot of tequila with a toast of the Swiss returning to world No.1.

It turns out Federer handles his alcohol less elegantly than anything that’s been thrown at him on the court over the years.

After downing the shot, footage shows Federer cough out his words as he struggles with the burn.

“Getting back to No.1…I didn’t expect that, that was a strong one,” the 34-year-old manages to splutter out.

Federer was joined on the Oscars party circuit by fellow great Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
