Daniil Medvedev demands apology during match

World No.5 Daniil Medvedev momentarily lost his cool during his match with Norway's Casper Ruud.

The US Open runner-up helped Russia book their place in the ATP Cup quarter-finals alongside Australia and Serbia.

Medvedev defeated Ruud in straight sets, 6-3 7-6 (8-6).

But midway through the second set of their match, the Russian star was left frustrated with Ruud's level of sportsmanship after he chose not to apologise for hitting the net.

Ruud hit a let court during an intense rally when he secured the break.

Following the point, the on-court microphone picked up a heated exchange between the two stars during the stoppage.

The world No.5 repeatedly asked Ruud on whether or not he hit the "net," expecting his opponent to apologise.

"Say sorry sometimes Casper, or not?"

"Say sorry sometimes or not, did you touch the net?"

Ruud eventually apologised, but admitted he won the point without the help of the ball hitting the net.

"I'm sorry, but you didn't lose the point because i hit the net."

The two stars continued to exchange words as the crowd awkwardly watched on.
