Tennis player forgets to serve ball

Losing isn’t something the human condition can handle.

And just as important as winning, is the manner in which you lost.

Maybe that’s something tennis star Kiki Bertens needs to keep in mind after an embarrassing gaffe.

The dutch player was playing in in the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), which is governed under different rules than matches on the ATP tour.

Bertens was down match point, when she tossed the ball into the air and forgot to strike it with her racquet.

As result the ball landed on her head.

Under the rules in the IPTL, once a ball is tossed into the air for a serve, the serving motion must be completed

Regular tennis rules allow the player to start their ball toss again should they get it wrong.

Clearly Bertens was confused and paid the price.
