Kyle Chalmers' former coach finds new job overseas after mysterious pre-Paris Games suspension
The swimming coach who oversaw Kyle Chalmers' rise to Olympic glory but was stood down amid an investigation just four months out from the Paris Games has left his role in Adelaide to begin a professional venture overseas.
Swimming Australia said in a statement that Peter Bishop, who in March was stood down due to an unspecified investigation launched by the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI), had taken up a role as head coach of the Dutch team.
Bishop's Swimming Australia coaching accreditation was revoked and he moved into a new role at SASI, in which he focused on developing talent and strategies with an eye on the 2028 and 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Swimming Australia told him he would be eligible to reapply for his coaching accreditation after the Paris Games, but he's agreed to a role with the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation.
"It's been a privilege to make a contribution to the Dolphins' success and I look forward to a new challenge," Bishop said in a Swimming Australia statement published on Wednesday night.

Bishop's stand-down prompted Chalmers to relocate from Adelaide to the Sunshine Coast, where he joined Ash Delaney's squad at St Andrew's Anglican College.
Among the Australians who've been coached by Bishop are Olympic swimmers Chalmers, Matt Temple, Zac Incerti, Madi Wilson and Meg Harris, as well as Paralympic gold medallist Matt Cowdrey.
Under Bishop, Chalmers won gold in the 100m freestyle at Rio 2016 and silver in the two-lap dash at Tokyo 2020.
Under Delaney, he won another silver medal in the 100m freestyle in Paris.
Dolphins head coach Rohan Taylor said Bishop's contribution across the Olympic and Paralympic Games was "significant and greatly valued".
"Kyle and Matt are legends of our sport and Bish [Bishop] has been integral to shaping their careers," Taylor said.
"We wish Bish all the best as he takes the next step into a head coaching role."
Swimming Australia said it would make no further comment.
