Sportsmanship rewarded with a kiss

Brace yourself, you might never see this on a soccer pitch ever again.

In a fifth division match in Germany a player shocked his own teammates and fans when he asked the referee to take back a penalty wrongfully awarded to him.

FC Bocholt and Baumberg took to the field with Bocholt causing headaches for the opposition defence with some nice attacking football.

During a sequence of play, Bocholt’s striker stumbled in the box before he could finish off a scoring play.

The referee misunderstood the situation and awarded a penalty to Bocholt.

But to his credit, the clumsy striker went straight up to the referee and told him he had made a mistake.

Such was the delight of the Baumberg players at the show of sportsmanship, one of the players gave the striker a kiss for his honesty.
