Snooker champ's amazing cushion ride trick shot

Trick shots on the snooker table are usually all for the benefit of entertainment rather than competition.

But English champ Mark Davis has turned a show pony shot into a competition money ball during the recent World Senior Snooker Championships.

The 43-year-old was cleaning up the table during his first round clash with former world champion Ken Doherty when he lined up what appeared to be a regulation cushion run to sink the brown ball.

But instead of going for the obvious shot for the closest pocket, Davis took the road less travelled.

Showing super touch, he stuck the brown ball with enough force to rebound it off the side cushion and jump onto the rail of the adjoining cushion, before running it along the top and into the opposite pocket.

What made the shot even more impressive was the side spin required to keep the ball on the cushion and roll into the pocket rather than tumble off the table.

The shot was 100 per cent legal and while Davis could be accused of showboating, 'The Battler from Hastings' went on to win the match 2-1 en route to claiming the world championship.
