Women's rugby produces one of the hits of the year

A university student, competing in a women's rugby tournament in America, has produced one of the sport's hits of the year.

Caren Meerman was competing for Davenport against Bloomsburg in the Division II Fall Championship when she channelled her inner-wrecking ball and demolished an opponent as she attempted a tackle.

Meerman clearly had size and weight on her side, but the hit was still big enough to send shockwaves through the sport, with USA Sevens Rugby dubbing it 'Women's Rugby hit of the year'.

For the record, Meerman went on to gain almost 10 metres and finished her run with a deft offload that opened up a paddock for one of her teammates to charge toward the line.
