Former Springbok Ashwin WIllemse storms off SuperSport set

South African TV station SuperSport is reeling following a spectacular blow up from analyst Ashwin Willemse ended with the former Springbok storming off the set.

In a tweet following the incident, SuperSport said that they are "aware of the on-air incident and [are] looking into the matter".

Willemse walked off the set after a disagreement with fellow analysts Nick Mallett and Naas Botha. 

While it's not clear what led to Willemse's spectacular walk off, the former Lions and Springbok wing seemed perturbed throughout the entire segment due to being labelled a "quota player" and refused to be "patronised by two individuals who played in an apartheid / segregated era".

The 36-year-old finished his rant by saying he "can't work with people who undermine other people" and that he was "glad it happened on live TV so that people can see", before putting down his papers and walking off the set.

SuperSport host Motshidisi Mohono seemed obviously startled by the incident and labelled it as "unfortunate".

Willemse, played for the Springboks between 2003 and 2007, scoring five tries in 19 appearances.

The former Springbok wing was named the 2003 SA Rugby Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year.
