Hooper involved in incident in Byron Bay

Wallabies captain Michael Hooper has been involved in an incident in Byron Bay that could see a man charged.

Hooper and a friend, 23, were out in the NSW coastal town at about 2am today when his friend jumped on a parked car.

The pair was seen by a security guard coming off his shift at a nearby block of units.

The guard called the police, who arrived after Hooper and his friend had allegedly attempted to rip a signpost out of the ground.

It is understood the police will seek to charge Hooper's friend but not the star flanker over the incident.

Hooper, also 23, earlier this year became the youngest man to captain the Wallabies since Ken Catchpole in 1961.

He has played 42 Tests for the Wallabies.
