Forget talent, spending power or super coaches – sometimes the difference between victory and defeat comes down to just one thing: who wants it more.

And determination and desire was what saved French rugby side Brive from the clutches of certain defeat against star-studded Top 14 rivals Stade Toulouse.

Toulouse, one of the richest rugby clubs in the world, drove a dagger into the heart of the 'Red and Black' when former All Black Luke McAlister scored what looked like the game-winning try in the final seconds.

The five-pointer levelled the scores at 21-21 with Stade Toulouse's Sebastien Bezy lining up a straight-forward conversion from dead in front of the posts.

However, summoning the last of their energy, the Brive defenders surprised Bezy when they rushed off their line and charged down his kick.

The scrum-half immediately complained to the referee, who called for a video replay, but the footage proved the Brive players timed their runs to perfection.

Once again, the 'never say die' attitude proves once again that no game is ever over until the final whistle.
