France beat Australia to complete winless tour for Wallabies

Reuters/WWOS

France beat Australia 48-33 in a see-saw match to end the Wallabies' first winless tour of Europe in 67 years as both teams closed their 2025 campaigns at the Stade de France.

Les Bleus, whose November campaign produced mixed results, alternated moments of attacking flair and periods of costly indiscipline, repeatedly allowing Australia back into a match that fluctuated throughout.

The visitors, who will host the 2027 World Cup with the draw set for December 3, stayed in the fight but faded in the final 20 minutes.

France's brilliance in broken play yielded tries for Nicolas Depoortere (2), Louis Bielle-Biarrey (2), Julien Marchand and Maxime Lamothe, with Thomas Ramos adding five conversions and a penalty to his own try.

Australia, who also lost to England, Italy and Ireland, capitalised whenever French discipline slipped, hitting back through Matthew Faessler (2), Angus Bell, Max Jorgensen and Josh Nasser, while Tane Edmed kept the scoreboard moving with four conversions.

FULLTIME: France 48, Australia 33

The Wallabies have contributed to an entertaining and competive Test but France are too good in a 48-33 victory.

Australia have gone 0-4 in Europe to end their season following previous losses to England, Italy and Ireland.

That's the first time they've gone winless on a European tour since 1958.

Very disappointing.

Australia will now reflect on that over summer as they start to turn their attention to the first ever Nations Championship.

Louis Bielle-Biarrey has just landed what will surely be the killer blow for France.

What a superstar the winger is as France strike from long distance.

Baptiste Jauneau threw the assist to LBB who had way too much pace.

Julien Marchand scores in a huge double blow for the Wallabies.

The France hooker crossed from a perfectly executed rolling maul and Wallabies flanker Tom Hooper was then binned for a side entry.

Jorgensen scores 'mindblowing' try for Australia

Max Jorgensen has returned serve for Australia with an incredible individual try!

The fullback scorched down the left flank and toed ahead when he started running out of room.

He then won an electric foot race to score.

"That is mindblowing from Jorgo!" Sean Maloney says.

What a Test this is.

Nicolas Depoortere has a double for France as things start to look a bit ominous for Australia.

Wallabies change prop for second half

We've just kicked off in the second half and Allan Alaalatoa has replaced Taniela Tupou as Australia's tighthead prop.

Tupou put in a really good shift in the city he will soon call home.

It's 19-19 after 41 minutes.
