MELBOURNE: The late Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting have demonstrated an uncanny ability to predict what is about to happen next on a cricket pitch.

And you can now add Kurtley Beale's name to the list of sporting Nostradamus'.

The ex-Test star joined Stan Sport's coverage of the Classic Wallabies vs British and Irish Lions Legends match at AAMI Park on Thursday night.

Beale said he had enjoyed breakfast with Classic Wallabies Drew Mitchell and Matt Giteau before the game and both were "fired up" and "very serious" about delivering a win for Australia.

"Actually, three weeks ago, Drew tore his hammies," Beale then revealed.

"I don't know, he tore both his hammies, he said. They look pretty good out there at the moment, so I don't know.

"He's very short odds of tearing both hammies come 80th minute."

Beale then lit up as winger Mitchell got hold of the Gilbert and tore off down the left sideline.

"Oh here we go, here we go," Beale said, taking over the commentary as things took a spooky twist and Mitchell pulled up lame.

"He's done his hammy, he's done his hammy! I said it, I said it!"

Beale roared with laughter as Mitchell hobbled around and play continued.

"Why are we laughing? We're bad people," added co-commentator James Haskell.

Chief caller Andrew Swain then called on Beale to make himself useful.

"Kurtley, I reckon you need to go and run an ice pack to him, mate."

The fun didn't stop there as Mitchell started his post-match recovery quickly by grabbing a beer from a fan and chugging it back in one gulp.
