How the AUNZ Invitational XV could line up against the Lions as full squad and Brumbies team confirmed

The AUNZ Invitational XV squad has been confirmed ahead of Saturday's historic clash with the British and Irish Lions at Adelaide Oval.

Coach Les Kiss will lead the first combined Australia-New Zealand team since 1989 in what will be the Lions' final match before the Test series against the Wallabies.

But who of the squad of 30 will get the selection nod in the starting XV? Try this on for a possible starting XV.

We, and Rugby Australia, would have loved Aaron Smith and Richie Mo'unga in the halves but it's still not too shabby, with Kiss noting the Kiwi power that will complement a strong and skilful local contingent.

Kiss will be supported by former All Blacks coach Ian Foster.

"There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to build this squad and it's exciting to see it come together," Kiss said.

"We have quality coaches and a highly motivated group of players that represent the depth of talent across Australia and New Zealand.

"Each of them has a lot to play for and there's a real sense of anticipation about the unique opportunity in front of us. As the first AUNZ side to be assembled in 36 years, we have the chance to do something pretty special here in Adelaide."

Meanwhile, brothers Tom and Lachie Hooper could play together for the first time in a professional capacity for the ACT Brumbies against the Lions on Wednesday night at GIO Stadium.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham was involved as an assistant coach with the club in 2013, when the Brumbies made history by becoming the first Australian provincial team to beat the Lions for more than 40 years.

"It's been amazing to watch the growth of both Tom and Lachie over the past few years. And it's special that they may get the opportunity to play alongside each other in a Brumbies shirt on Wednesday night," Larkham said.

"Not only that, but it's against a world class team in the British and Irish Lions, who tour our country only every 12 years. They'll be chomping at the bit to contribute positively to the team.

"The boys have been back in training for a couple of weeks and they are aware of how big an opportunity this is for them to take on the Lions. We're under no illusions of the challenge that lies ahead, they are an incredibly strong and powerful side."

Prop Lington Ieli, flanker Rory Scott, scrum half and captain Ryan Lonergan, centre David Feliuai and wing Corey Toole all start after recently being involved in the Wallabies camp in both Sydney and Newcastle, before returning to the Brumbies to train last week.

Lock Cadeyrn Neville starts against the Lions for the second time, having played against them for the Melbourne Rebels during the 2013 tour.
