Brumbies captain Allan Alaalatoa gets three-week suspension
ACT Brumbies captain Allan Alaalatoa has been suspended for three weeks after pleading guilty to a high shot in his team's 27-24 victory on the weekend.
The 27-year-old was given a straight red card after his shoulder made contact with the head of Rebels prop Pone Fa'amausili.
"It was like two buffaloes at each other," said commentator Tim Horan at the time, before adding "there's only one decision here."
Alaalatoa had no complaints after the red card was shown, but did take time to go and check on his fallen opponent before he left the field.
"Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from the player, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the red card under Law 9.13," SANZAAR foul play review committee chairman Adam Casselden said in a statement.
The committee determined that the incident merited a mid-range entry point of 6 weeks, but was lowered for a variety of reasons.
"Taking into account mitigating factors including the player's clean judicial record and pleading guilty at his first available opportunity the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to three weeks," Casselden said.
The Brumbies will be without Alaalatoa for matches against the Reds, Force, and Waratahs.
SANZAAR also handed down a three week ban to Force hooker Andrew Ready, who was sent off for throwing a punch in his team's narrow win over the Waratahs on Friday.
