Italian MotoGP star Valentino Rossi hopes to be back in action from leg fractures "as soon as possible" but at the same time believes his recovery time won't be a short one.

The Yamaha rider Rossi, 38, fractured the tibia and fibula in a motocross accident last week. He underwent surgery and has left the hospital in Ancona again to start the rehabilitation process.

"I have to treat the injury with care. I know the team is supporting me during the rehabilitation process. Fortunately I'm fine, I'm not too bad and I've already managed to start some light physiotherapy," Rossi said in Yahama's preview published Wednesday for the next race in San Marino.

"The recovery time isn't short, but I will do everything I can to get back on track as soon as possible."

Rossi is expected to be sidelined for at least a month. He has won the MotoGP title seven times and is currently fourth in the championship.
