Polish rowers create 'Dragon War'

A Polish group of rowers may have invented a new sport in which they get nowhere, fast – dragon boat tug of war.

The bizarre event sees a single boat manned with a 12-man crew – with six rowers sitting at one end and the other six facing them at the opposite end – in a pool under a long rope.

The rope is situated roughly down the mid-section of the boat with both sets of rowers at the ready with their oars.

At the prompting of an announcer, the teams furiously match stroke for stroke as they attempt to push their side of the boat under the rope.

In this case, the team in black proved too strong for their white-clad rivals and claim the win in about 14 seconds.

Not much is known about the strange competition but one US media outlet has already labelled the craze 'Dragon War'.
