Poker refund of $8000 after identical card missed
A stray card has resulted in a refund of over $8000 at a professional poker tournament in Las Vegas despite neither the players nor the dealer realising the mistake.
Footage from the Super High Roller Cash tournament – which has a buy in of $327,000 – shows Doug Polk being awarded the chips after none of the seven players noticed as the dealer flopped out an ace of spades and two identical queens of clubs cards.
While both the dealer and the players may have missed the obvious double up, the commentator didn’t.
“We have an ace, queen, queen. But I thought we saw two queen of clubs,” the commentator says in the footage.
Polk’s joy at winning the pot worth $8380 was short-lived with an official quickly informing the table that the hand was dead because of a duplicate card.
