Pitcher’s priceless reaction to home run

A young baseball pitcher has captured the hearts of fans with his priceless reaction of awe after watching a rival player slam him out of the park for a home run.

Playing in the Little League World Series for the US Midwest team, Mekhi Garrard fired off a pitch hoping to slide the ball past Mid-Atlantic rival Cole Wagner.

However, Cole proved too hard to beat, slamming the ball with perfect timing for a home run.

It was a moment that could have left Mekhi heartbroken.

But instead, the youngster watched in bemusement as the ball sailed straight over his head and over the fence.

Following the trajectory of the hit, the youngster watched wide-eyed, with his mouth open and appeared to utter the words: "Holy crap" as it flew out of the park.

His look of awe and appreciation for his rival was a classic piece of childhood innocence and a refreshing change from the sore loser look that usually dominates the faces of senior players.

Unfortunately, Mekhi's sportsmanship wasn't rewarded with victory as his team fell 18-0 but it has earned him fans around the world.
