NFL star shares gruesome snap of Super Bowl injury
They may wear pads, but anyone questioning the toughness of American football players better think again.
Carolina’s Thomas Davis Senior shared a gruesome post-surgery picture of the surgically repaired forearm that he played with in the Super Bowl loss to Denver.
The star linebacker broke his right forearm a fortnight ago as the Panthers booked a berth in the Super Bowl with victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
He had surgery on the fracture where a plate and 11 screws were inserted into his arm.
Davis made seven tackles despite wearing a brace in the 24-10 loss to the Broncos.
After the match, he posted a picture on Instagram of the stitching on his arm, which looked more like a zip than a limb.
“This post is not about me, or how tough I am. It's not to shine any light on me or my injuries,” he wrote.
“Our team doctors and trainers did an amazing job giving me an opportunity to get back on the field. This post is strictly to show how much love I have for my brothers and #PantherNation. Thank you all for your support and we will #KeepPounding.”
While the love he has for his teammates played a part, we’re sure some serious painkillers and a superhuman pain threshold were also crucial in Thomas getting out on the field.
