'I'm a major perfectionist': Aussie Olympic champion Jakara Anthony breaks record, grabs hat-trick of titles

Australian Olympic skiing champion Jakara Anthony shattered a legend's record and claimed a hat-trick of crystal globes as her phenomenal 2023-24 season continued in Kazakhstan at the weekend.

Anthony chalked up a single moguls victory to clinch her 12th win of the season, taking her past American Olympic gold medallist Hannah Kearney's record for most wins in a season, before posting her 13th win in a closely contested dual moguls clash.

The 25-year-old from Victoria's Barwon Heads defeated American Jaelin Kauf 18-17 in the dual moguls contest, ensuring she captured all three 2023-24 moguls titles (the single, dual and overall crowns).

Anthony has the hat-trick wrapped up with one event remaining on the calendar, as she prepares to head to Italy for a dual moguls event.

"Securing all that stuff here in Kazakhstan makes the trip to Italy a little less stressful, but it's going to be my last week on snow for the season and there's a few things I still want to achieve, so we'll be looking to do that," Anthony said.

"I'm a major perfectionist so I'm always striving to go that one better. I hit what my goal is and then I'm like, 'OK, what's the next thing?', which is a great thing, and I think it's why I've been able to progress to where I am. But it comes back to bite me in the butt sometimes.

"That's a few back-to-back wins for the season now. We are getting to the end of the season now — that was our 15th event — so to be able to keep bringing that week after week I am really proud of."

Anthony now has 21 career victories, meaning she's just three wins behind the 24 registered by aerial skiing great Jacqui Cooper, the most of all Australian winter sport athletes.

"Being the top seed in duals means you switch lines every dual round, and I have been lucky to be the top seed most of the season, so I am quite confident at it now," Anthony added.

"But it was a bit rattling at the start of the season, so it's really good training for me."

Anthony has competed in Finland, Sweden, France, Georgia, Canada, the US and Kazakhstan this season.
