Aussie skiing superstar Jakara Anthony's ominous, record-breaking display on brink of Olympics

Australian moguls skiing superstar Jakara Anthony secured the 26th World Cup win of her career on Sunday (AEDT) in a formidable and record-breaking display less than a month out from the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.

The reigning Olympic gold medallist is now Australia's all-time World Cup wins leader after a brilliant performance at Waterville Valley in the US, having overtaken the 25 victories registered by legendary aerials skier Jacqui Cooper across the 1990s and 2000s.

Anthony will head to Livigno in Italy's north on a three-event winning streak and with the No.1 World Cup ranking in her grasp, in defence of the Olympic title she won in Beijing four years ago.

"I guess I have a good track record here now," said Anthony, who won the singles and dual moguls events at Waterville Valley last season.

"It hasn't been the easiest comp this month, and the season's been all over the place.

"I'm just super stoked to put down a few really clean runs.

"It's a nice place to leave the World Cup season on hold until the next one."

Anthony won with 81.17 points, ahead of American pair Elizabeth Lemley (78.12) and Olivia Giaccio (76.60).

The opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina Games will take place on February 6.
